The night before a shoot Kacey and I went for a walk around Denver and I Played with a 8 mm lens and long exposures this is proof the experimentation leads to addiction. Love playing with the fish eye lens

Denver at night shot from friends balcony...Early Spring Evening...I must have watched the weather for two weeks before the shoot praying for great weather...Positive vibes must have reached the Weather gods because what a great night.

As the night fell I took this shot of the Denver Capital... Capped off a great night with a great friend

About me:

Hello, My Name is John Root. I was born 12 noon on Wednesday May 17 1971, in Austin TX. That made me astrologically speaking a Taurus and in the Chinese calendar I was born in the year of the Boar and socially speaking a redneck. After bouncing from Austin TX to Brownsville CA to Okinawa Japan my family moved in 1976 to Rapid City South Dakota. I spent the rest of my growing up there. Starting in Kindergarten on Ellsworth Air force Base and then moved in 1978 to Piedmont South Dakota which is a 15 miles out side of Rapid City and 15 miles out side of Sturgis yes, that is were the bikers go. I joined the Army after high school as a photographer and did the green suit travel thing for the next 6 years ending up living in or visiting the global hotspots of Germany, Korea and Washington State.
After I got out of the Army I moved to Denver Colorado. After a few years of wandering around I met up with local music scene, in which I have many great friends and now I have been doing photography of one sort or another for about just over 18 years; I love doing the unusual photograph. What I mean by that is, instead of the standard "Mall Shots” that look just like everyone else’s, I prefer to go for the fantasy side of the art. I love to grab the inner most desire of the people I photograph and yank it forward to the surface, so when others view it they are stunned by how different they look, but at the same time that is just another facet of them that they only dream of. I have been published in the Rock City News Hollywood, California, Westword Denver, Colorado, Revolver Magazine, The Guardian Ft. Lewis Washington, Heavy Magazine, from Germany. I also did the liner Photography for the Moore Bleed and Fire Sign Hades Cafe CD's
So, Bands in need of photography, new and up and coming models that want to build their portfolio, families that want to have a fun photograph taken of them, High School Seniors that want skip the same old cheesy photo that everyone else has and ANYONE else that wants to explore their inner-self and capture it on film.
